Ready or not, here we go!

Who am I, you ask? Well, the question should be, would you like to talk about my “ideal” self, the person I attain to be but will be ever far from it, or the actual me?
Let’s do both!
My ideal self – Wow. She is quite the lady. First off, she hikes. Yes, as in hiking up hills, through forests, or up mountain peaks – not getting bitten by hundreds of mosquitoes, I might add. She also has COMPLETE control of every calorie she puts in her mouth. Finish an entire bag of chips? Heavens, no! Have more than 1 or 2 glasses of wine? Wouldn’t think of it! This ideal self of mine also reads both fiction and nonfiction books, lots of them. She actually uses her library card and she doesn’t even get fines. As a mom, she never raises her voice and only has to raise one eyebrow ever so slightly to communicate to her children that they are not acting properly and need to buckle it up. Her home is neat and organized. Lastly, she’s a size 6.
Alas! Let me tell you about my real self – she’s still pretty cool. Yeah, she’s not always organized and doesn’t climb Denali every other weekend. Her favorite bad snack is Hot Cheetos (curse you red dye!). I can out eat most people I know including men. Bring on that 2 pound chipotle bowl! My children were perfectly behaved before I had them, but now they’re just little people trying to understand their emotions while I try to understand them as well because, man, they’re confusing. I’m also trying to be the best mom to them as I know how to be. Growing up, my mom called my room a pig sty. Not sure what that is, but that’s what it was called! Flat surfaces are my enemy. They are magnets for everything that doesn’t belong on them. I also really, really, really like being efficient. As for a size 6, one day!
A few years ago, I started listening to a minimalism podcast and thought, “This is it! This is what I need to get control of my life!”
I still don’t have control of my life. BUT! Since starting on this journey, I’ve continued to simplify and minimize what I have and want to share what I’ve learned along the way with you!
Basically, I’m a minimalist with too much stuff. I’m not here to pretend I have it all together. Honestly, it’s quite the opposite! I’m here to show you what I struggle with and the tips and tricks I’ve found to help me manage myself, my home and enjoy my family to the fullest by keeping it simple and doing it fast.
